Re: IBANEZ vs ESP

1. figure out your budget. 2. sit down at a shop and play a number of basses (ideally through a few different amps) and see what you like the feel and sound of. 3. buy that model new or used. 4. play it. 5. find in a while that the instrument doesn't look/feel/sound/weigh/sit in the mix/fellate to ...

Re: How would you arrange these?

I agree with foal, it makes sense to put eq before compressor. Tuner needs clean signal to work well, so it should go first. Most people put the delay last. Rest is up to you. Half the fun is messing around with stuff like this, its pretty much the reason people buy effects, so have fun figuring out...

Re: Bass Tab

Assuming your on Windows Powertab is an option. Personally I much prefer GuitarPro, its nicer to use. However, unless you know were to find an illegal version you will have to pay for it. Worth the money though I reckon. If i remember correctly powertab doesnt have drum capabilities. So in GuitarPro...

Re: Fender Jaguar Gas

Sounds to me like you should do it!

Lifes short.... Worst case is you dont like it and end up selling it. If you buy 2nd hand you shouldn't loose any money if you wanna flick it on again.

Re: the importance of the jazz bass

There's nothing quite like having a tool that inspires you to use it though. This I think is the most important part of buying anything. Instruments, cars, sports equipment... An instrument/rig that inspires you to play WILL make a difference, especially for learners. Its how I got hooked into bass...

Re: NZ bass string suppliers

Yeah that sucks that they dont stock them. But think of it from their point of veiw. It is very likely you are the only person within the last 12 months to want a six string bass strings for a headless bass. In fact I have never even seen a six string headless in my life. :D There is no way it is a ...

Re: AMPEG SVT 3 PRO Advice

I wouldnt let that Goliath go for less than $800, even in the condition of the economy, but that depends on condition/age. I have seen a few up on trademe with a reserve of $800, however a more reasonable price would be around $1200. Have seen them for sale up to about 1.8k, but dont think they sold...
