Re: Ashdown little giant

Maybe a reason why they're cheap eh?! I'd forgotten about the promethean - tried that out in a music shop whilst doing the rounds with the Ashdown etc as I was also pleasantly surprised - seemed like a pretty good unit. Definitely worth a second look with your own bass. In the end my bro decided to ...

Re: Ashdown little giant

Hey John, Tried one of these out when looking for a rig for my brother - have to say I was a bit underwhelmed. Didn't seem to have a lot of grunt to them, and I personally found the eq to be fiddly and hard to dial in a good sound - seemed quite fuzzy. Could be that the only cab the music shop had t...

Re: Met any famous bass players?

I met Phil Small from Cold Chisel at the Blues Bar in CHCH. He was touring with Ian Moss. Very nice guy, told me has was playing Lakland basses these days. Phil Small - don't hear a lot about his legacy, but he laid down some cracking lines with Chisel - have always loved his playing. And playing L...

Re: Show us your Bass!

Great looking bass! That bridge pickup looks very close to the bridge - what sort of tones do you get out of it?

Cheers guys - some good potential to work on. Got a potential smallish gig lined up in May, so something to work towards too.

Welcome man, and trust that you enjoy the journey of becoming a bass player. Do you have any american cars? Be keen to see them if you hav...

Nice! Love those curly looking basses (Ritters?). Not my style, but they sure look funky!

Re: Where to advertise for players??

Sounds pretty nice, mate! Cheers man - not bad for a first jam. Plenty to tighten up but some reasonable potential, and a lot of fun which is most important! Although I do note it has my fav hate in that playlist.... I have long held the opinion that if I ever find myself playing the toothpaste son...

Re: Where to advertise for players??

Thanks guys for all your feedback here. Took your advice and worked the network (haven't advertised yet) and found a couple of great players that we jammed with on Friday night. They've set the bar pretty high. If you're interested, take a listen to the tunes at http://soundcloud.com/bluejam/sets (f...

Re: Show us your Bass!

Now I have had a Lakland USA bass built for me over about 6 months. Here is the finished product, John Piruccello (president of Lakland) holding the bass. I'll have this in my hands VERY soon  http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q251/sungjin891118/Capture.jpg I'll post details once I get it...
