Re: Show us your Bass!

No offence taken, of course. But I'm guessing you won't be admiring the lines of my fretless.

Not only is it portable, but when its in the softcase, you get excellent service at the Postbank.

Re: Show us your Bass!

Hi, here is a youtube clip demoing the features of my Maton Fyrbyrd bass, which is from around 1972, one of just 35 made. dYxGl9gLSE8 Sorry, using the "embed youtube" didn't work - so have to follow the link. If there's a trick to it let me know and I'll edit the post to embed the video cheers Matt

Re: BASS / AMP PICTURE THREAD :: Get your cameras ready!

I was lucky to come across a couple of 1980s era Marshall 1936 2 X12 cabinets recently on Tardme, and have replaced the speakers with bass 12 inch speakers. The cabinets are constructed from birch ply. It was a bit of a gamble as to whether it would work, vibration wise, but they sound great matched...

Re: Lighting

I have just got a Chauvet Tri 4 Bar system which is brilliant - carry it in a guitar sized case and set up in a couple of minutes with 4 flat LED washes. Also have 3 standard LED parcans on a stand, and and a light with2 moons and a led strip combined. Got a cheap DMX controller off trademe, and now...

Re: Show us your Bass!

The purpose of a belt is to scratch the crap out of your Iceman. The bass drums sounded huge, and we could load them with these thunderflash explosives!

Re: Show us your Bass!

When I was a young metal head, this 1974 4001 was my bass - http://i942.photobucket.com/albums/ad264/Fyrbyrd/52bass.jpg Time passed, and I downgraded to this Ibanez x series destroyer... http://i942.photobucket.com/albums/ad264/Fyrbyrd/thamesside.jpg 30 years later, the Rickenbacker is still my go t...

Re: Bass Synth BOSS vs. Digitech

I've got the Syb-5, and the expression pedal, which is essential to get the best from this pedal. Now, I really like the Muse sound, and can get this from the Prunes and Custard pedal or the EHX microsynth. Haven't been able to get the muse thing from this SYB-5 though. It does give good Rammstein s...

Re: compressor options?

The CS in the Boss CS3 is "compressor sustainer" so must be quite different from the limiter - not that I'm suggesting its for you, but it does sustain for ever. though can add ground noise at the same time.

Re: compressor options?

Boss cs3 compressor is cheapish ($90 on trademe I think), and gives plenty of sustain without too much impact on tone. I have one but switched to a keeley compressor which adds a big improvement in tone, as well as sustain.
cheers

Re: Marshall Or Other?

Well my Marshall 1974 vintage superbass 100 sounds like a dream so i don't agree with the opinion that Marshall don't do bass. Maybe the modern stuff is tame though

Yes, I was there in Wgtn on Monday. Roscoe mainly played a 5string I think bass that Mr Cohen said was his own signature model. Some great fretless playing too.
