Re: Weird 'gig cancellation' reasons

In my old band, we were asked to join a couple of other acts for a gig on the shore. No probs. we had a fairly good crowd coming to see us, so wanted to put on a good show...... This ended up being a bit of a 'showcase' all about us as both the other acts pulled out. On the day. One was a close rela...

Re: Why did the Ampeg cross over the road?

^^^ I'd vouch for that. ^^^
I've played some BFM cabs that Harley had made, and from that point on, nothing else compared. That led me on to building my own BFM cabs. And I've never looked back. :D

Play them both. Feel has to be a massive part in the decision. All Fenders are created awesome. Some are created more awesome than others :D

Re: Advice on bass setup

I love that site! Bit of a geek re. tools, they have some pretty handy stuff, as well as a few unnecessary rip offs too. Your description of your setup steps ar pretty much bang on what 'The Fender Bass Manual' says to do too. Handy that it's got all the pickup heights, neck heights etc.

Re: Anyone G.A.S free?

Congrats on the new addition! :P I had been eyeing up a Highway1 Jazz at RS in Henderson, a nice matte black example too. I had refrained myself from playing it I store, cos I new that would just start the whole process, and end the happy wife part! One day it thought bugger it, I might not even lik...

Re: P-Bass - right first time

Welcome to the club. Highway ones are great and don't rule out copies, it's where the split coil pickup is placed that makes the P tone eh The whole not versatile thing is funny when considering all the styles the P bass has successfully covered. I can see why someone who is used to blending betwee...

Playing like that, and staring aimlessly into the crowd likes he's totally distracted by something else. Yes, that is jealousy talking!

Re: Bass elections

To be honest, I haven't thought about political party + nz music scene effects..... But I am glad that we don't have popular musicians/actors promoting various parties like they do in the states. Leave it up to the individual to decide, don't need a Ted Nugent or Bono or who ever to try and sway me....

Re: What if...

My precision for sure. I have a Washburn 6 string guitar with a quilted maple top, and if I had a spare hand I'd probably grab that too, just cos I love the finish on it so much, would hate for it to get damaged!

Re: Buying online.....

Almost all my gear I get from my local. Definitely all my bigger ticket items. I know the manager at my local rs just from going in there so much, having a yarn and trying gear. I've bought strings and cables online, but that's about it I think? However you just can't beat that one on one service. N...
