Re: Downsizing & bewildered by choice
I'm glad you found an amp you're happy with... brand is not important to me really From memory I saw the Fender amp on Trade me then went online to read user reviews of the amp then I just had to convince the Mrs that I HAD to have the amp! I was worried that the combo wouldn't put out enough power ...

Re: Downsizing & bewildered by choice
no worries... I think I got my fender rumble off Trade me 2 years ago for $600?
but if you like the Ashdown then go for it - it should have a DI out on the amp in case you play a larger venue and need to run the amp through the FOH

Re: Downsizing & bewildered by choice
I had an Ashdown ABM EVO 900 head and ran that with a Warwick 4 x 10, but like you I'm in the 40+ age bracket and found lugging a 38kg 4x10 around every weekend wasn't doing my back any favours..... So just to throw another one into the mix - I bought a fender rumble v3 500 combo and I love it it's ...

Soundcheck - how does your band do it?
Just interested in how other bands sound check - i.e do you do drums first, bass second.... ? Reason I'm asking is sound checks for my current band are getting longer and more painful - and it's incredibly frustrating sometimes. We always start with the drums - kick first. Drummer likes a full on pu...

Re: Noise gate / supressor pedal?
I'm happy to say that for the last year I've not had a problem with any hissing... I use a fender rumble v3 500 with my squire modified jazz and plug into the DI out straight to the desk and no problems at all I have the on stage volume at 2.5 - 3 on the amp and it sounds sweet I was worried that th...

Car Accident - should I claim?
last Saturday March 3rd wife & I were driving in Auckland on the way to a wedding gig set up we were stopped at a set of traffic lights in Great South Road and.... WHAM! we were hit from behind (young 20yr old woman looking at mobile phone!) Car was a right off and we were both in shock... it wasn't...

Re: Does anyone use a separate / external EQ pedal?
Thanks Pins I don't think it is a problem with the amps DI... but to rule out the problem I might use my behringer DI that I bought about 2 years ago to use with my previous amp at the next gig... although from memory last time I used it there was a lot of 'hissing / static' coming through FOH, even...

Re: Does anyone use a separate / external EQ pedal?
thanks for the replies. My amp doesn't have the option to select post or pre eq when using the DI - just has the DI and a ground lift button next to it when I adjust the volume or tone on the amp it does affect the mix out front so that's what lead me to believe the DI is post EQ (I could read the m...

Does anyone use a separate / external EQ pedal?
I'm thinking of getting an EQ pedal to use with my amp, but not sure if it will do what I need / want - or whether it is what I need I've got a Fender rumble v3 500w combo and it's great - I never have to have the volume above 3 on stage and we always DI from the back of the amp to FOH Problem is Dr...

Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!
last week I saw an auction on TM - someone was selling a used Ashton bass amp 40w - they had $450 on it!! I've seen a couple of these in the last 6-8 months on TM for around $90-$150 so thought that $450 was a bit steep I felt the urge to ask a question and tell the seller they are dreaming if they ...

Re: New Bass rig
Hi Eduan, I used to have a large 4x10 Warwick speaker cab and a big Ashdown head - the sound was good, but I was getting sick of lugging the cabinet around week in week out, so I bought a fender rumble V3 500 combo and couldn't be happier - they are about $1k at the Rock Shop it weighs only 17 kgs a...

Bass / Band Bloopers
After a funny incident during last nights gig soundcheck I thought I'd start a bloopers type thread. last night we set up for the gig and drummer starts soundshecking his kick drum - but it sound very weak... he turns his kick drum up on the desk and it starts ringing badly, so he spends 5 mins chan...

Re: What's your rig?
I'm glad the Rumble is working out for you after having what seemed like a long period of problems with your last rig. How is the DI on the Rumble? works like a charm..... at first is was buzzing and I went through that "oh no.... not again" thought but realised that you actually have to have the b...
