Got the router out to make the pickup cavity. The perspex template makes it pretty easy

Re: Teaser - next project

Yes... neck pocket done, and ready to do the pickup cavity. Slow progress due to other things on my plate. Will try to post some photos this weekend

Re: Music software for tablets

A short update to my old thread. I have been really happy with MobileSheets and just keep importing anything I need to play that I haven't memorised. I have been wanting to get a bluetooth page turner for it for a while, and finally bought one. I got the iRig BlueTurn BlueTurn.jpg Super simple - two...

Arrgh - don't have the right router bits to do the neck pocket or pickup cavity. Bits ordered - now just the wait for them to arrive

Love the look of the Customshop P, but not brave enough to start the conversation about another bass at home

Re: Teaser - next project

Zombie thread! Finally made a decision about electronics and hardwear, so time to get back on the job and finish this bass. Here is the body template with the bridge and a chromed control plate. I am thinking of making the control plate out of wood so I can shape the top, so might change the shape o...

Re: Playing ampless in small venues

Thanks guys. I have managed to get the others sounding great running ampless through and I get to bring my amp to fill in the bottom end. It's been a bit of a pedal shuffling exercise for the guitar and harp player, but I think we now have everyone really happy with their sound, and I have control o...

Re: Playing ampless in small venues

I have been doing a lot of reading on this, and I think in-ears are probably the only way I could get it to work without amps. Our singer/guitar player has a bit of hearing damage sustained in his youth, so likes to have the lots of highs and no mids to hear himself. I have got a small digital mixer...

Re: Kala U-Bass

Nice score Marty! Having a cutaway would be nice - I occasionally run out of room on my U-bass. Is it fretted or fretless? I played a fretless U-bass in the US last time I was there and was able to get a pretty realistic amplified upright sound.

Playing ampless in small venues

I have recently joined a blues band. We're a five piece if everyone turns up (guitar, harp, keys, drums and of course bass) and are all north of 50. The places we are going to play are mostly really small venues for a band of five people, four of whom have amps. They all seem to have a PA with a sma...

Re: BPNZ User Youtube Thread!

Fixed it for you Def. If you use the youtube button to post, you don't include the "http://youtube.com/" part, just the random letters and numbers at the end.

Video tutorial on mixing bass

Been doing a little recording over the last month and have been playing around with blending DI and miced cab signals. I've tried it before, but never really got it to sound great. I found this which really helped and thought it was worth sharing. Interestingly, his use of EQ is very subtle - it is ...

Re: BASS / AMP PICTURE THREAD :: Get your cameras ready!

Here you go Foal! I've been keeping this beauty under wraps for a couple of weeks. It is an MTD Kingston Z4 that I got for a bargain - new but very slightly damaged from the Rockshop via Trademe (thanks Dave!). I've fixed a ding, although it is still visible - it is the light dot in a straight line ...
