Re: Stewmac

Yip, ditto to the last post. Ordered a couple of sets of tools from them over the years. Probably paying a bit much for what some of them are but in terms of service, convenience and range they're a hard outfit to beat.

Re: Does anyone in NZ import Gold Tone products?

Yip, that's the one. Gold Tone in the US advised me that the NZ agent is www.banjos.co.nz. Have been in contact with them and I'm waiting on RRP.

Does anyone in NZ import Gold Tone products?

Got some serious G.A.S. for a Gold Tone PBB but would really like to have a play with one before I lay down any bucks. Anyone got any ideas who imports these or better still a shop in Auckland where I can try one out?

Re: True or False?

The science is fairly sound in regards to the tension questions around tone are really a personal thing. I've played a number of neck through instruments of various price, quality etc and I've never thought "Wow, that is way better than it's top load equivalent". To be honest the only time I've gone...

Re: LOL Bass Player Wanted Ad

Looks like the ad’s been removed. Luckily there’s no shortage of nutters in Auckland. This guys’s been hanging around for a few years. http://www.rockshop.co.nz/Classifieds/detail.php?siteid=19770 His Myspace bio is either pure comedy genius or a cry for help: http://www.myspace.com/gemindigo Quote:...

Re: Slapping ...

... so I don't slap. But when I was 17 and at Rockquest, we did a song that had the most basic of slap on it. In fact, it's really even slap. Anyways, 20 years later we decided we wanted to record it ... so we did that last night. But not being a regular slapper, my thumb knuckle started killing me...

Holy crap that's an ugly bass. You'd have to be high to think it has any aesthetic appeal...perhaps that's why it says 'We Stone' at the bottom.

Re: BASS / AMP PICTURE THREAD :: Get your cameras ready!

I unfortunately ended up using the 2x10 Bassman 250 at a gig a few months ago. Found it to be barely adequate. Yes, it was a loud band but an amp this size should still be able to deliver enough on-stage sound for me to hear what I'm doing and let the DI'd front of house signal do the rest. Didn't d...

Re: Where can you hire a Neumann U87

Thanks for that! Mic pre set up is a Phonic T8100 into an M-Audio Project Mix desk. Surprisingly for something with the name "Phonic" on it the T8100 is really good.

Where can you hire a Neumann U87

Been doing some demos for a friend's band for a few months now and they want to take the next step to spend a bit more time energy and money on something that's going to be mastered and pushed for airplay. The mic that I usually use for vocals isn't cutting it for them (too dirty to their ears) and ...

Re: Rusty pick up, how do you treat them?

Already do the post-gig wipe and use silica bags. I'm not concerned that there are a few rust spots there now, I'm really just after a way to stem the flow so to speak. It seems a bit weird that people suggest that the way to get rid of the rust is to sand off a thin layer of the chrome that's on th...

Rusty pick up, how do you treat them?

I suffer from a medical condition that amongst other lots of really lovely things means that my sweat has a whole lot more electrolytes in it than a normal healthy person. This makes my sweat very corrosive and I'm a bit of a sweaty f*cker anyway when I play. I've almost completely rusted through th...

Re: Mr Glyn - Auckland

Totally bro! I had him install a pickup I imported from the US into my acoustic. The pickup turned out to have a faulty element so he called in a favour and got me a new element and had it all installed and working within 2 days. When I got the guitar home I noticed a bit of damage around where the ...

Re: Bass Player Hawkes Bay available.

Hey Marty,

I used to work with you @ Greenlane post MusicWorks merger about 8 years ago. I think you actually left that job to go work for HBA?

Not big on geography but saw this in the Bass Player wanted section: viewtopic.php?f=43&t=1432

Take it easy
