Update: No sign yet of the stolen Fenders, but a positive from my ongoing Trade Me monitoring of "Fender Bass" has been that in the interim I have replaced both the 4 and 5 string basses with arguably better instruments anyway - courtesy of TM sellers - over the last few months. Needless to say, both of these basses I have well photographed and documented.
Cheers to all thread contributors!

Guts Dennis. I'll keep my eyes peeled. Yeh our flat got robbed on saturday and one of my flatties lost his mac, ipod, camera, external hard drive with his masters project on it, and a camera. Luckily I have been keeping my bedroom locked all the time so I didn't lose anything and I have the crap insured out of all my guitars and gear. Yeh writing down serials is a good idea, I keep an updated list of all mine both digitally on the net and in hard copy. Have to be real vigilant about gear these days, especially in Auckland. Best of luck

Brando2880m - Your'e a legend man!!, thank you very much for being so observant and caring to advise..
I had HUGE pleasure in visiting the police this morning and advising them of the auction, and confirming it is (was) my bass.
The auction has been withdrawn subsequently, now I'll wait for the police to do their thing - and I really look forward to maybe buying the bass back off the insurance co - gotta cross that bridge yet.
God how I hope they can track the ar$#HOLE responsible...there is still another stolen fender out there somewhere.
Thank you also BassPlayer.co.nz for hosting my post and making this wonderful result possible - big CHEERS! to you all.

Great news,and what a result.
Pawn shop I see,so therefore they would have all the details of the person who on loaded it to them at least...and why on earth isn't the serial number fed into some kind of data base that must be checked by pawn brokers to see if its stolen ? that is assuming the serial number is intact.

Also amazing that such a distinctive bass has been out there for so long and only finally surfaced,in the same city.

DennisS,
Did you end up getting reunited with this bass that was spotted?
Keen to hear if you got your mitts back on your bass.

I suppose the others are still out there so hopefully they can be spotted too.

Nah, any claim then makes it the legal property of the insurance company. Some will offer a buy back though, or a chance to bid at auction.
