Ever since I touched my first rockbass I can't see myself buying anything other than a warwick. I love the sound, the versatility, and who the hell says warwicks are ugly?

...well ok maybe those thumb things but the corvette, especially the oil finished ones, are a fine piece of (b)ass

First time I played one I was pretty young and was playing a Soundgear at the time so didn't really think twice about the look, but really didn't like the feel. It was many years before I came across the brand again, this time my tastes had changed and I couldn't stand the look, and the feel still wasn't me. The tone is ok on some of them.

The few I have played all felt high quality and well made, but I can't help but feel they are a different instrument

It's a subjective thing. But for me, I just plain hate the look of the things. If the bass doesn't make me want to pick it up and play it, that's half the battle lost right there.
If they've got a toothpick for a neck, that's another mark against them
But as the song goes, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum, what might be right for you, may not be right for some...

I like the look myself, and think they feel great in a 5 string config, unlike the fenders IMHO :(. But have heard alot about the necks warping on the rockbass and some warwicks, those with the bubinga neck i think? My old bass / guitar teacher's mate was the warranty man for the rs chain and some warwicks he claimed were buggered due to neck warping and needing replacements? That was one thing that steered me off them unfortunately. However the good ones seem to be just sublime for what I'm after, just out of my current price range....... Maybe after my new jazz........

I don't hate anything, its a very strong negative emotion that has no place in my life.

I didn't like the look of any Warwick I've seen.
I didn't like the tone of any Warwick I've played.
I didn't like the feel of any Warwick I've played.

I'm shallow - I wouldn't want to be seen in public with one.

+1

EDIT: The tone is quite interesting, to be honest, but it wouldn't work for the music I play :?
EDIT 2: Warwick amps, on the other hand, I don't like at all.

I'm a traditionalist, so they're too modern for me..... I owned one briefly, and it was a well-made, easy playing bass with some good features, but I couldn't get used to the wenge neck. I have no disrespect for them, they're just not me.

I'm about to find out about one these basses.I have a Warwick Star Bass "Pro" coming to have a look and play with.
This is the Korean version, but from what I have read on the net the hardware and electronics are identical to the German made version.Watched a few vids and listened to some sound clips and I dig the sound produced.
I am still looking for something in a bass that I have yet to find in any of the 8 basses I own,and stupidly enough I dont really know what Im looking for, but hope one day to pick up a bass and say "Yes this is it" !

This is what got me interested,

agreed on that john,I guess I like the way it produces an almost slap/pop tone with fingerstyle.the more I dwell on that alone is making me think thats the sound and tone Im after ?
If you can get past the hype from this guy here is another vid I found, and this is the Korean version as opposed to the German one in the first vid, quite different again as you would expect. (voice volume warning  )
