Which Fender is it? Is it one of those small red ones?

Oh... I'd never seen a black one before. Only red ones.

For the first time ever, I am gassing for an acoustic bass!
I might have to go have a play around in some stores

The nicest one I know of is/was at Music Planet. It's a Crafter and if I had the $800 I would buy it straight away.

Definitely worth checking out, if it's still there.

Speaking of acoustic basses, has anyone tried a Kala Ubass? A ukelele bass with 'plastic' strings. There was one on TM last week which I was really tempted to bid on. If the youtube videos are anything to go by, they sound amazing amplified.

Somebody has one at my wife's work. Haven't gotten around to ingratiating myself so I can bludge a go.

I've heard nothing but good things about them. Apparently what the strings lose in length they gain in thickness?

I have been following topics on the Kala Ubass since i first read about them a while back,i do want one as can already see a ton of possibilities.

the first thing that sprang to mind was being able to jam in the car on a long trip ! without having to stick the neck out the window, risking the poor basses life and limb, or across others ugly mushes in the back seat ! so portable ,sound kinda cool,do want !.i missed the one on trade me,how much did it go for ?

I think it went for $568 and about $750 new. Would love to try one because I can think of heaps of places I could take it that I'd never take my other basses.

I've heard that you really DO need an amp for those, but if you're in a car, you can rig something up so you can plug into the car stereo. Maybe through a Pod or something. That would definitely be fun.

I am new to the whole ABG thing. But I an finding It as almost another instrument altogether. Kind of like a cross between the guitar and the bass.

Did you try that Cort SJB-3 when you were at my place?
Great basses for the $.
Good build quality, really nice woody full sound, low string tension and action, Fishman pickup and 4band EQ.
I'm just about to start doing some duo gigs with it.

No, I didn't try it. That I can remember. Pity

Good luck, with the duo stuff. I just had a jam on the weekend with a mate and he wants to do some duo stuff too :D

Ah pity. Just put flats on it and it's quite nice.
Oh that's great J. I'm learning all the BV's atm which is proving very tricky!

Ha ha ha! Funny you mention BVs. He said to me "you will have to do BVs though".
I am terrified of mics, more so then cameras.
I find it really hard to sing and play bass. Strumming a gat is easy, but bass....

What sort of stuff will you be doing?
