Bravely (stupidly?) agreed to back 5 ukuleles and a flute for a few Christmas carols last night. Haven't been that scared playing a bass for a long time  Have to say it went much better than expected (Thanks again Marty), although I played very simple lines. Hard to tell exactly how it sounded from where I was but a lovely old lady came up and asked if it was a double bass or a cello, because it sounded like one, but didn't look like one. I'm taking that as a compliment.

Hahahahahaha! Brilliant.
Nev, carols only require extremely simple lines, the simpler the better. Good on you for jumping in!

Rufus Reid - The evolving bassist. Check.
Bow and rosin. Check.
First bow stroke on the open E string - whoa, I don't know if I have ever played a note that sounded that good in my life before. What a stunning sound! I've got to learn how to master (well, at least get to my normal mediocre level) this bass.
