Mirage F4 - don't actually know anything about it but it looked the prettiest in the shop (complete light-brown wood textured body)

....Cool man. Love them Steinbergers. I had a XL5 a few years back. Didn't like the string spacing, but the tone was fantastic. Wish I has a 4 string.

I've had a quite a number of basses, but now I just have two:

'72 Fender Precision (passive)
'97 Fender Jazz Dlx (active)

Having tried pretty much everything (except the boutique stuff), I've found that Fender works best for me.

Worst I ever had - a '64 Hofner "Beatle" bass. Absolute crap bass. I bought it for $15 in 1966 and sold it a couple of months later for $60. They're now selling for about $US3k+, clearly demonstrating the absurdity of the vintage market.

Fender Precision Bass (70's reissue, ash body, MIJ)

G&L L2000 (versatile sound and nice to play, just looks ugly)

Rickenbacker 4003 (worth the 9 month wait 8) )

Squire Jazz Bass (actually quite nice)

Other basses I've had:

Ibanez Soundgear.
The most embarrassing piece of gear I have owned, but I got it when I was very young and the tiny neck was good to learn on.

OLP Musicman copy.
Whoops.

Another G&L L2000.
Got it real cheap, just wasn't as cool as my other one.

Gibson Grabber (1976).
Tons of vibe, cool tone but just didn't suit me.

Epiphone Jack Casady.
Very cool, but it was just too big for me to play properly.
