Crowded House - "Fall at your feet"

Post by foal30 » Sun Feb 12, 2012 3:57 pm

Nice tune this, also has an 'interesting' bit which is the bar of 6/4 before the first chorus.
have a good listen to how bassist Nick Seymour mixes his line up, with anticipation, slurs, slides, walks and holds.
listen to how he alternates his choices through the bridge
I think there is something in there for everyone.

this is from the Best Of Crowded House record Recurring Dream 1996

Finale NotePad - it's free and it's great for notation. Easy to learn too....

...BUT...doesn't lend itself to timing changes ( adding the 6/4 in one bar ) as I have just found out

Here's what a 10 minute exercise on finale notepad can do - had to print and jigger around with the 6/4 and Eb and Ab, but it's a free programme and great for posting ideas etc. I've copied this straight off foal's sheet and haven't had time to check it - at work....

Scan and save as jpg.

Open jpg up in Microsoft Paint or similar simple programme.

Select "Select all"

Then go inot resize, select pixel option and make it about 850 wide with the aspect ration olcked.

Save and download into imageshack.us or similar and copy the link.

Failing that email me the jpg full scanned file and I'll do it for you. ( below )

You're welcome!

You should really download that finale notepad though and give it a try. I bet once you get the hang of it, you won't bother with with pen on paper, plus the bonus is you can play it back as well.

Thanks for that tip Harley!
I've had trouble in the past remembering lines when the only recording has a load of rhythm and lead guitar over the top....this looks good.

Yeah , I played that one-on-one years ago with Neil the morning of his gig in ChCh where he scraped up a band in every centre of NZ and gigged that night. It is a good one I suspect for him to throw at a Bass player to see where they were at , grasping that hook certainly got me a few more songs on the bill that night I think, good fun !
