I used to get "Bassplayer" regularly until the issues got thinner and thinner and more full of advertising and then a quick turnover of editor-in-chiefs put me off - I have a whole stack of them in dusty corner of my room which I might donate to my sons college music dept. but I don't buy them anymore - if they got back to what they once more I would pick 'em up.

I have a customer who shares the latest Bass Player magazines, although I kind of enjoy them, they aren't what they used to be back in the day.I have to admit I get more enjoyment and more info reading on the net these days, just saying.

I'm with Pins. Used to buy, but it's devoid of serious content these days. I check out www.notreble, also www.basschat (a UK forum) and www.talkbass

don't tell Kiwi!

Bilbo I like on Basschat
there is also a young guy (Matt Lawson???) who is trying really hard which I dig. His enthusiasm is contagious which I reckon is great.

Bass Player USA, went to *BANNED* 15 years ago. Needed more AJ and Berlin. Goldsby was good too.

Talk Bass is totally fucking random
Content level is so wide it does me head in
huge laughs possible but also utter brainlessness.

There is a lot of great info over there but it seems that the "know it alls" end up driving away the folk who do have some great knowledge that is worth sharing.

the ones I like are the emphatic posters who are refuted categorically 15 minutes later
then carry on as if nothing happened.

remarkable.

You nailed it - Bill Fitzmaurice being one of those extremely knowledgable and helpful guys driven away by dipsticks,
