Yes the seller has Berg cabs.

Regretting the Yamaha hollow body auction from last week.... Buy now of $700 would have been tempting for sure.

A Warwick 6 string Thumb bass http://www.trademe.co.nz/music-instrume ... 398443.htm It has a lot of wear / damage including a crack at one of the tuners on the headstock. Also there is something else going on (maybe another crack or some other damage) at the bottom of the headstock (check out picture 5 of the trademe auction page). It originally had a buy now of (i think) 890 before somebody bid 750 for it. The auction closes this monday. It will be interesting to see what it ends up selling for. If it wasnt for all the damage this bass has, it would be worth more.

And another good deal i found on Trademe. This was my old bass that i sold a couple of years ago to a good guy in Dunedin. A 1994 German Warwick Fortress One with wenge neck. This is a very good bass and with a Buy Now of 700 how could you possibly go wrong? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... 1251259332

I think a $5000 bass in a pawn shop for $890 means 1 thing.

It sold for 845. If somebody here on the forum bought it, be sure to let us know how the bass is. I would be interested to know if it is a lemon or just a very well used / abused bass in need of a little TLC

Good to know. The reason why i asked was because i bought an early 70s P-bass that had white / cream colored pickup covers which turned out to be DiMarzios (i.e replacement pickups), so i had to ask the buyer just in case. In case somebody here on the forum hasnt seen the p-bass we are talking about that is for sale on Trademe, a 82 P-bass http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... 1260068162 . Imagine a Steinberger with cream colored pickups ah lol

Yep, I posted on the auction to the same effect. White pup covers were available around that time, but not all had them. Fender also issued the Elite and Special lines with white pup covers. It never really took off. I can remember buying a tobacco burst precision around then with black pups but there was also one on the wall with white.
Wish I'd never sold the tobacco burst, traded it on a 67 Jazz which was a dog but would probably be worth mucho dollario now as a collector but not as a player. I have never had much luck with late sixties/early seventies jazzes (and I have owned many) although I do like that era precisions. The pre-cbs necks and electronics just seem so much better to me. All highly personal, no doubt.
Recently imported a custom shop 55 precision scpb which is floating my boat at the moment. Since I also have two custom shop 59 precisions (one strung with flats, the other with rounds) one of those may soon be listed on TradeMe.

Uh oh here comes an acute-on-chronic exac of GAS for more basses from me lol. I am also trying to find a Wal bass at the moment. There are some for sale overseas, but my problem has been trying to convince the seller to ship international partly due to them being nervous about the new CITES regulations with rosewood. Anyways, i will keep trying, and eventually i will get somebody to ship one for me. Or if i am luckier, i may find somebody in NZ who has one they are willing to sell

Be tough to find a Wal in NZ
Think I've only ever seen 1 and think a guy Marty knows has one.
Davo had one but sold it before he moved here from UK

Yep, there is one in Napier. Dude has owned it for many, many years. Shared a few festival stages with him back in the day. One of the first slappers I came across, I think, so that dates it a bit. Can't see him letting it go, he is one of those lucky people who seems to have found "his" bass right at the start and stuck with it. Haven't seen him for a while but he certainly knew how to slap that baby.

I've had two of them and sold them both here. The first one had to go to help pay the mortgage on our house in the UK. The second one I sold it to a local guy in Auckland and he then had it for sale at Cadenza a few years ago. Unfortunately he ripped out the Wal circuitry and replaced it with a Bartolini preamp instread. Was gutted when I found that out. And in a coincidence it then went to a friend of mine in Auckland who now has it. Not sure if he's put the Wal circuit back in though. Here's a pic (hopefully) of my second one. Not a great pic unfortunately.

Rob Burns in Otago has one. I had one in the early 90s, but I didn't like it. I bought it new from the RS. I couldn't get the "sound" so I went back to a Fender Jazz. Much better.
