Mmmmmmmmmmmmm dont really care if she plays the bass or not, that would only lead to petty squabbles over who is best,so I would retire from playing just to keep her happy

I can't find Justin Chancelor on the site at all. What do we think of him? I know his bass lines aren't the most complicated, but he must get a little credit for some of his rythms and the fact he's in arguably one of the most influential bands of the last couple decades.

Just shows you how little influenced us old farts can be. I've never heard of Tool.

Justin is a monster, he is the melodic driving force of that band. Got to hang out with the Tool guys backstage in Phoenix a couple months ago.....good dude.

Just shows how diverse we all are. I don't think I've ever heard Tool, and certainly couldn't tell you any of their songs. And while most bassplayers cite James Jamerson as a major influence, I much prefer Carole Kay and Bob Babbit from that era.
Currently my favourite bass guitarists are Lee Sklar, Emory Gordy Jr, Anthony Jackson, Jaco Pastorius. Favourite upright players are Willie Dixon, Ray Brown, Paul Chambers, Milt Hinton.
