got to hear Mike Kime on Monday.
I not hear him in years
plenty of growl in his tone ( double bass)
plays a great blues...I like his approach and feel
his intro on "Beautiful Love" was proof of a spanking mug

and he was on stage with Tom Donaldson and John Bevin so too stand out as a distinct musical personality in such rarefied company is all good.

James Wilkinson from quirky jazz group Hampster for some extremely slippery fretless playing on his beat up Westone Thunder! Not bad for a folk guitarist! ;)

Incidentally the video featured Pati playing George Packards double bass (atleast I think it was George's.. lol).
What brainiac thought they could get away with playing an upright to a sound track of popped bass? The sound engineers did a good job with the sound of that Peavey Foundation though.
Stuff: Shuker Headless MIDI 6, Spector NS5CRFM, Self-built 5 string semi hollow headless, Status Series 1 5 string, Pedulla Pentabuzz, Alembic Series 1 graphite, '78 Musicman Stingray, Genz Benz Shuttles, Trace Hexavalve and fEARless F112 cabs

+1 for Mike Fudakowski aka "Fud", mostly known for his work in Cripple Mr. Onion and an inspirational tutor for countless aspiring bass players.
Check out one of his custom 8 string basses at http://www.stephenstrings.co.nz/qcustom.htm

well for me the person who will be a hall of famer in NZ will be Ben Shepherd - only 18 and a master of the electric bass. He is off to CalArt in LA for a bass degree course with the best Charlie Haden, Alphonso Johnston etc
Check out his page http://www.yatrarecords.com

well buddy check out http://www.yatrarecords.com and purchase the cd and tell me this boy is not the greatest NZ has produced and he is only 18!

Its a ridiculous claim to make, and if that is you Ben, I'd check your attitude mate

I'm sure Ben will become a great player though, and hope he goes well overseas.

Don' forget Mike Fudakowski's replacement Shoki. He's a seven string freak.
