G'day All

Post by matt » Wed Mar 10, 2010 3:31 pm

Sweet site! Had a chance to look around over the last few days - clearly some kiwis who love the low end - nice!

I've just moved back to NZ after 15 years overseas in the UK and Australia (my wife and I went on a 1 year OE - and made it back a decade and a half later with three kids in tow)

Been in and out of bands for the last 20 years or so, done a little recording, some touring, and really dig playing live with good players. I just love all things bass - playing, gear, talking about it, reading stuff - only wish my skill matched my passion

Currently using Lakland, EBS and Bergantino gear.

Look forward to hanging out with the community here online. Go hard and be the groove!

Matt

Hey thanks. It's a really fun band to play in. :)
What sort of music did you play in the uk?

Mate - a little of everything - jack of all trades, master of none! Historically rock / pop covers (though I was in an originals metal band for a while), but more recently concentrating on the funk with a bit of jazz thrown in. Done a lot of quite diverse stuff in Christian circles as well.

Funk and groove stuff is what I love the best though...

Sounds like we're pretty similar on quite a few points there except I've never played metal. Hence Bootsy University sounds quite appealing
Agreed... Funk and groove is the bees knees. 8)

Cheers Steve - had to change jobs (different role, same company) so a bit of a drama, working part time at the moment. Long story to be told over a beer sometime... Still playing though - quite a bit of stuff in churches around the place, and a few jazz/funk gigs last year. Hope to get a little more serious this year with the jazz/funk stuff - my brother in law is a great jazz pianist, and we're jamming with a drummer and hopefully guitarist on Wednesday, so planning to pull together a band out of that. We'll see...

Ah that's good to hear you've kept your hand in, and have kept a job too!
The new project sounds cool. Hope it all pans out.
