Well hello

Post by potatoes » Thu Aug 12, 2010 2:50 pm

Hey, medium-term lurker, first time poster here.

I'm a younger guy (19), been playing since I was 10 or something like that. I suppose you'd call me a very enthusiastic hobbyist. I'm mainly into jazz and rock, but i'll give any style a go. I play a corvette std 5 string, in case you were wondering :D

I have one question: what is 'GAS' supposed to stand for? I can't for the life of me think of anything that fits the acronym and makes sense in context

Cheers

Hello!
As far as I understand it, GAS = Gear Acquisition Syndrome.
Meaning no matter what you have you always want / need to have something else bigger, louder, shiner, with more knobs and dials and frets or strings.

You have it my friend, you just didn't know you have it.

Hi there and welcome. :) And now you know of GAS !! I always have GAS,as I am always in the pursuit of a particular sound which even after 20+ years I still have not discovered, and hope I never do or no more GAS.

You're probibly the first vegtable that's joined

Great to hear you have an open mind to different styles. Tis a good attitude to have as you don't limit yourself to 'learning opportunites'.

G.A.S... it's a long slippery slope

Welcome aboard Potatoes (can we call you Spud?)

Thanks for asking about GAS....I was wondering what that was about. And yes it seems I have a touch of it.... bought a new guitar a few weeks back.... and an amp last month....
