Fingerpicks...

Post by StraitjacketJames » Fri Sep 02, 2011 8:14 pm

Does anyone know where to find fingerpicks in NZ?

I play fingerstyle, but need more attack, and I sometimes miss the strings when I use a normal pick  - NOT GOOD! - and I also can't play as fast as fingers.

Both attack and speed can be achieved with fingerstyle, I reckon just work on that!! (I am a bit of a traditionalist though! :p )

Thanks Mike.

I'm a bit of a traditionalist too, and I've been playing fingerstyle for 5 years, old habits die hard, as they say, because I can't get used to a normal pick. Speed, I'm fine with at fingerstyle, it's just attack. I'm trying to start a metalcore (or similar) band, so I kinda do need a pick or something.

Most all music shops stock fingerpicks.

PM me your snail mail address and I'll send you some. I'm the warehouse manager for the Dunlop importer.... we have a bazillion of them. Also tell me whether you have big or skinny fingers.
Marty.

What about lap steel fingerpicks? Are they different to bass fingerpicks? Every music shop in the world seems to sell them. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a metal set, so have had to use plastic ones, which aren't as nice (I'm just starting out learning lap steel guitar).

Wow, thanks Marty, how much will that cost? I have long, skinny fingers (great for playing bass!).

Hmm, jazzbass (sorry, I don't know your name) I think fingerpicks for any instrument.

I remember Ernie Ball used to make steel finger picks many moons ago. Music Ways in AKL is the importer.
