Hey Steve... thought I posted but obviously haven't, hope it's not too late to respond. Would love to be there.

Is it too late for me to invite two more - guitarist/singer, and drummer from my band?

Possibly either or both won't be able to make it anyway at this late notice - must admit it didn't occur to me to invite them until I saw someone else mention their drummer.

How are we looking for numbers? Is it okay to bring them on a casual basis? Or is it a bit more restricted than that?

Hi all,

Steve emailed me earlier to notify that his wife has gone into labour, so unfortunately I don't think he'll be making it tomorrow night. I would like to wish him all the best!

I think the only sounds coming out of Jansen will be that of bass, drummers/guitarists/whatever are welcome along but I don't think we'll have anything set up for them. This being the first meet of its kind, we'll be keeping it bass only as it'll make life a bit easier (amps will be set up all around for people to try them out).

As the night goes on we can jam a bit though, I'll bring a loop pedal and we can see what sort of jamming we can get out of a bunch of bass players!

Catch you all tomorrow :)

Cheers Dan :-) Baby boy arrived late last night. There's a good chance I will be able to get along so I'm looking forward to it. 8)

Yeah well put Guy. Thanks to all those who could come along. 22 was the count we decided. It was great fun.
Simon and his crew were tops! The shop was really well laid out with lots of excellent gear to try. Excellent venue. Thanks again!
I believe some photos were taken so we'll get those up soon.

Yep, big thanks from me. I couldn't stick around too long, had to be home by 7:30 to look after the kids, but I sure had fun while I was there.

Thanks bassplayer.co.nz for organising it, and big thanks Simon for hosting it.
mmm... free beer and pizza, and rooms full of music gear- it was like a wonderful dream.

Simon, apologies I didnt' say thanks and bye when I left. I had a look round and couldn't see you just then.
Very impressed with the MarkBass gear, gonna have to bring my basses in and try them soon.

Thanks to various forum members for letting me play their basses too.
Tony, your Stingray felt the nicest to me out of the ones I tried - after about 1 minute on it I felt like I'd been playing it for years. Very nice instrument. I'm getting an idea why so many people rave about them.

and free pizza....and free beer!
(I just can't get over that part)
