I think that anything that helps people learn what is available for sale by anyone is a good thing

having it all in the one thread is fine as members of the board can choose wether they read it or not

How annoyed would you be if you bought something not knowing that something better was available and more suited to your needs ( money aside ) and you didn't know because it was a niche product or the manufacturer or the importer didn't spend millions on advertising it

I am more than happy to have special deals for the forum members I have lots of product you will not find in YOUR local store as they are locked into deals why should you as a Bass Player suffer because your local shop doesn't carry it.

An example we import the Skull Stainless Steel strings not seen in any music shop in NZ they are only $38.90 I can do a special to members of $34 and either post them with no recourse for $1 or courier for $4 your choice these are Stainless so you won't need to boil them :-) I have them in 45-110

Or perhaps I could do a 10% off Markbass products to forum members that amounts to savings of 100's of dollars

I actually have a couple of Carvin Bass cabinets I want to quit with the new neo speakers in them I have a BRX 2x 12 that was $1690 I can do for $990 or a BRX4x 10 which was $2090 I can do for $1490 both come with wheels I think

Policing who is a member and who isn't could be hard but not insurmountable

Actually the demand for Markbass from the retailers is catching me by surprise

Dan wrote:Well I just think it should be something to benefit the community here. I have no problems with trademe links or the like, but as I stated I think it should be on the condition that members here get a "discount" if you will. Otherwise its just free advertising with no real benefit to anyone here. I'm not talking massive discounts, but some incentive would encourage a faster sale, without auction fee's, and the knowledge it's going to deserving people :)
i like what you are saying on this. i personally like trademe links and on a side note is it possible to have the links open in a new tab, ?instead of the way it is now. seen a forum last night that seems to use the same program that does that.

Hmm sounds interesting .... what was the website you saw it on... maybe there is a mod for that?

Yep for sure. The problem has always been keeping the people only wanting to sell stuff out of genuine discussions... and of course the same rules have to apply to all. I think this separate area gets around the problem really nicely. 8)

Pretty easy really.... if you have a computer handy.. just get them to go to bassplayer.co.nz and watch them login.
Or get them to PM you.

I think John means for that to happen automatically.... which is not always desirable.

Ok I think we're getting somewhere....
I've made a new 'Buy and Sell' area which contains the new 'Sponsor Advertising' and For Sale / Wanted.
Here is a link to the draft rules so check them out and let me know of anything that needs changing or adding: http://www.bassplayer.co.nz/phpbb2/view ... f=67&t=511
Cheers
