Business Advertising Forum?

Post by beagle » Thu Apr 03, 2008 10:47 pm

Hey all....
How you feel about having an 'Open to Businesses' forum on the site?
It would be the only place were businesses could freely advertise or promote themselves on this website... at no cost to them.
Obviously it would have to be music related... and we could all comment on them. (keep them honest and all)
Let me know what you think...
Your votes will decide what happens!

P.s. I'll know if anyones rigging the votes so don't bother trying.... this isn't Nigeria u know ;-)

I think it is a great idea, a great way to keep the retailers in touch with their customers and a perfect medium to drag a retailer through the dirt if they mess with us, let me at them!!

Why not? as long as the cheeky beggars don't come spilling into the other parts of the forum it'll be good as.

Along these lines we have just had a massive Markbass shipment including the F1 and the new classic range stuff for those that can't see past the yellow speakers

I only have one more comment on the buisness forum.

Surely it is there to "benefit" all us bass players, so I'm not sure about just having a thread with direct links to trademe.

I'd be happier if it were something like "I have these on trademe, but I will sell them $5 cheaper to anyone through these forums" or something like that.

Ok I see what you're saying and it's a valid point....
but it could become a lot harder to administer and for advertisers to understand....

here are some options... (and I'm not saying they are good options or bad)

We could ban links to auction site listings like trademe, zillion... but still allow links to normal websites.

We could ban links altogether.

Discounts for Bassplayer.co.nz members should be encouraged?

Well I just think it should be something to benefit the community here. I have no problems with trademe links or the like, but as I stated I think it should be on the condition that members here get a "discount" if you will. Otherwise its just free advertising with no real benefit to anyone here. I'm not talking massive discounts, but some incentive would encourage a faster sale, without auction fee's, and the knowledge it's going to deserving people :)

Yeah fair enough ... it would be great to encourage any suppliers that support our members.
I also think we don't want to make it too hard either for us or the business

Check out this forum and topic on nzhondas.co.nz http://www.nzhondas.co.nz/phpBB2/index. ... 3b8f47f4a3

http://www.nzhondas.co.nz/phpBB2/sponso ... 3b8f47f4a3

http://www.nzhondas.co.nz/phpBB2/sponso ... 3b8f47f4a3

They don't allow open business advertising. They do however allow 'Sponsor' Advertising. Anyone trying to advertise that is not a sponsor gets their posts deleted. Obviously there are some requirements to being a sponsor which i'm not aware of... but the advertisers appear to offer discounts to members.

I can't help but think this approach might be too restrictive as we have such few members.

What if the only things we stipulate, in return for the free advertising, is that they place an easily visible Bassplayer.co.nz link on their website's home page, and that the topic must have some sort of special offer or discount available only for our members? I think this would achieve benefit for the members but not restrict the advertisers.

What do you think nzsimon?
