Progress on GrowlerBoxs' Jack 112

Post by Harley » Mon Nov 29, 2010 11:21 am

Thought I'd post a few pics of halfway through a build of a Jack 112. This is the one for Growler box

Here's the front;

The vertical bars hold the melded 16 piezo array - switchable 1/1; 1/2; 0/0

Here's the back;

It's hard to see because black makes it difficult to photograph, but there is a phase plug for the driver ( 5" dia ply circles ) protruding back toward the driver. The square plate with the round hole is actually a spacer ring to prevent cone slap. The driver is bolted onto this plate with hex-head roofing screws with spring washers.

There's still the lining of the cab to do, making up of the HP filter and two top-coats of Duratex paint plus fitting of front grille, handles and corners.

I'll post a pic when it's finished.

This is the latest of Bill's designs and will house an Eminence 3012HO driver. this cab can also be used for PA if required and would do a really nice job of that too.

In the background are 4 T48 Subs destined for a sound company in the NI. These will accompany the other 4 T48 subs ( their build ) plus 8 DR280 tops I have built for them

Looking good, Harley -- thanks for the obvious care and attention to detail. Can't wait (but will!).

So the 12 is mounted internally?

Yep - that's the reason to have the anti-cone-slap spacer. It is accessed from the back access cover.

Very cool, man. Looks great and I can't wait to plug in.

Take it easy (other orders notwithstanding).

I've been asked to play at Carols in the Park at Mt Roskill this coming Friday so I played it at a practice tonight. It wasn't quite broken in as the speaker wire harness had broken loose during the break-in ( manufacturing fault and good thing to discover as it's a simple fix and best sorted before any gig :mrgreen: ) so it only had about 12 hrs.

But I can tell you it sounds very very nice and it's obvious the tweaking Bill has done between the one you have on loan and this new one for you is well worth the wait.

Should be down either late this week or sometime next week with it.
