funky phasers

Post by model.citizen » Thu Dec 03, 2009 8:13 am

my Small Stone has started to go south, so have been looking for something with a similar funky tone to replace it.

i've already been thru a TC phaser, Ibanez PH7, Roland AP2 (not working no more :( ), some DOD thing, an old Pearl, MXR Phase 90, probably others over the years that i've forgotten.

what is out there that comes close to the 'Stone in it's "funkiness"? haven't tried a Phase 100 yet...

gimme your experience/suggestions guys!

well I don't have a phaser
but I did consider the
Red Witch Moon Phaser(?)
apparently NZ build
and used by Jack Bruce
not 100% sure it is funky.

but it has good reviews and seems to be reliable (according to internet commentary)
I played one in the RS
Slave to the Rhythm Changes

been looking at those Biyang things, the sound clips are promising as is the amount of control, but i'm hesitant to shell out $100 for something "cheap".

might have to look at that Rusky small stone on tardme at the moment, they have a different tone to the USA models (more mid-range, less deep).

i've chucked a DOD FX25B envelope filter into the mix sometimes, but she's a bit too sensitive to dynamics to work as i need it.
