Blue Bass Avaiable in Wellington

Post by akubra » Sun Nov 21, 2010 3:30 pm

I come from Italy for job reason. I had a Blues Band in Italy, we played classical blues (Muddy Waters, Hooker, etc.) Any Blues Band need of my experience (more than 20 years)?

Cheers
Vanni

Welcome to NZ and BPNZ.

The Wellington guys may have some advice for you on how to contact bands needing a blues bassist.

There are a lot of blues bands around so there will be plenty of opportunity to join one, but the demand for blues groups isn't huge so be prepared to spend quite a bit of time getting to gig, unless you have one of those lucky breaks.

All the best and hope to see you posting here regularly.

Sorry H, but this is the sort of comment that is like a red rag to a bull to me....
I'm not sure how well Wellington is endowed with blues bands, but new bands are appearing in Auckland all the time.
Our glorious leader Steve (Beagle) has just formed a new one, but the opportunities to play out around this town are there.

The number of venues hosting, or more accurately, willing to pay reasonable rates for live music regardless of genre is decreasing, so we are all after a bigger slice of an ever decreasing pie.
However, if you play good 'music' and act in a professional manner when dealing with the venue, promoter and punters... you'll get work.

Best of luck... and if you are ever in Auckland look us up at the blues club: http://www.aucklandbluesclub.co.nz

That must be where I've been going wrong.

There are indeed a lot more Blues bands around Akl now than when I joined Los Diablos. I guess that means the music is increasing in popularity.

Call me Father Beagle... and for the record, I'm just filling the slot till they get a permanent BP.
