Lydian Augmented is the third mode of the Melodic Minor
the 5th note of the Lydian scale is raised a semi-tone, hence the augmented bit in the title
so to spell it out
D Lydian Augmented is
D E F# G# A# B C#
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
what use is this foal?
well apply this scale when we see minor ii-v progressions
so Em7(b5) / A7(b9) / Dm7 / Dm7
play the Lydian Augmented from the b5 of the E minor (Bb is this note)
play the Lydian Augmented from the 3 of the A7(b9) (C# is this note)
this can vary our walking lines and might give a starting point for some soloing.
Jazz Theory, it's magic.
